Pantone Color of the Year 2017: Greenery

Spring is right around the corner and here in South we are expecting an early one. What better way to embrace an early Spring than with a color that evokes it. Pantone’s color of the year is Greenery and it is the epitome of nature’s revitalization. According to Pantone “Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate… Greenery is nature’s neutral.”

Don’t be afraid to take the leap, this color will brighten up any space and pairs well with neutrals, brights, deeper shades, pastels, metallics and even last years color of the year Rose Quartz. You will be seeing this color creep up in linens, accessories and paint schemes. Start small and take a look around your existing decor. If you are like many, your base big items are more neutrals, so you can change out smaller items with the season, when they get messed up and when the holidays hit. This allows for a easier way to incorporate and get playful with this color.

Try finding one or two pieces that draw attention and are striking. Position them around your room to create movement or center them as a focal point. If you are in love with this color and want to incorporate it on a more permanent basis, try painting that yard sale dresser you found. For an instant update on that worn out recliner have it reupholstered utilizing this vibrant color. Whether you go small or go all out, the choice is yours, but we will be seeing green for months to come.
