David Marchat's Biography
David has been doing what he loves for over twenty years now – helping people to better understand technology and enabling them to make the most of the computer equipment that is available to them. In his early days, David worked for systems manufacturer Digital Equipment Corporation (now part of HP/Compaq) where he was responsible for repairing various systems for contract customers throughout Atlanta and North Georgia. He then moved on to work for corporate food manufacturer Kraft Foods/Nabisco where he became a sales technology specialist/senior systems project leader. There he supported individual technical needs in all areas from the production line to the board room. He now owns and operates his own business, Bytes Computer Services, LLC, where he shares his knowledge and skills with local businesses and individuals.
While almost any technical problem can be solved with an infusion of dollars for software and equipment, David prefers to solve technology issues with what is at hand, sparing expense whenever possible. He notes that with the advent of government mandated “open system technology,” much of the software needed to perform today’s required tasks can be had for little or no money.
While technology can be daunting for some, it can often be explained in more simplistic, non-technical terms so that it can be embraced and used to achieve our goals more productively. That is our purpose here. So, let’s talk geek in a non-geekish environment. Together we can shed some light on the issues we encounter as we travel along the digital super highway.
