Cider Taste Test Challenge Review

One of our readers stepped up and took the Cider Taste Test Challenge Jacqueline issued in her recent article about Ellijay's apple orchards. Read D. Lively's picks for two great places to stop on your Ellijay visit.
"Today, my husband and I made a trip to the apple houses in Ellijay to avoid the crowds and sample the apple cider at each stop. This is something I have not done in a few years. Our first stop was the Red Apple Barn, best prices on all products of all the apple houses, and my husband and I agree that they do have the best cider of all the places on your list. Hands in the air, the best! Free sample given with a smile! It was not too sweet, yet has a nice spice flavor and most important the apple flavor is still very present. And, did I say the best price?! We bought a half gallon for $2.50 total price with tax. I wish I had bought several so I could freeze them and enjoy later. I thought I might be buying others, but later discovered I would only buy another half gallon from R&A.
Second, R&A Orchard, cider was really good, but did not beat the Red Barn. Worth purchasing though. The people were friendly and the place was very clean and well stocked. The Bakery was HEAVEN. I love the apple fritter sticks. They were yummy. They have all kinds of products in the store to choose from. We bought salsa, chow chow, and Rome Beauty apples. We really enjoyed our stop there because we felt very welcome and appreciated. I will be making a trip back there in a few weeks to try more things! Thanks for writing an article that inspired us to do something we have not done in a few years!"
